Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts has opened a luxury hotel that was built around a Kyoto pond garden that dates back to the 12th century.

The Four Seasons Hotel Kyoto, located in the Japanese city’s temple district, features 123 rooms, including a 2,600-square-foot presidential suite, and 57 residences. Room amenities include polished woods and shoji panels, while the 5-acre property has a 66-foot-long indoor pool.

The resort boasts a brasserie as well as a high-end sushi restaurant that limits diners to 10 guests per seating.

Amenities also include guest access to “Experience Creator” and Kyoto native Hana Morioka, who can arrange for activities such as rickshaw tours, ninja training sessions and Kiyomizo ceramics classes.

Four Seasons also operates the 57-room Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi.
